News update: Annual Prescribing report
Published: 15 November 2019
The bpacnz Annual Prescribing report provides individualised and practice prescribing data for any primary
care prescriber registered with us, including nurse practitioners, nurse prescribers and pharmacist prescribers. Prescribing
reports are also provided for DHB and PHO facilitators.
The Annual Report includes:
- A summary of the previous year’s key prescribing messages
- Demographics of the patient population prescribed for
- Dispensing data, including the volume and cost of the 250 most commonly dispensed medicines
- National and comparator prescribing data averaged from ten primary care patient populations with similar demographics
The reporting period has changed
The Annual Prescribing report will now provide data on the most commonly dispensed medicines by calendar year. This is
a change from previous years where the reporting period was 1 July, to June 30. Due to this change the 2019 Annual Report
will be published in approximately April, 2020; the full set of data for 2019 is not available in the Pharmaceutical Warehouse
National Collection until approximately March, 2020.
If you would like to review any of your previous annual prescribing reports or prescribing reports relating to specific
topics, e.g. prescribing hypnotic medicines, log in to “My bpac”* or go to www.bpac.org.nz/signup to
